"Susky 5 Slama-Jama"
August 8-9 | Bloomsburg, PA
Awards @ Bloomsburg Fairgrounds

If there was a current ranking for kayak fishing destinations, the Susquehanna River has to be at the top. A perennial powerhouse destination for the pound for pound toughest black bass species - the smallmouth bass.

Due to the power of the fish and the face-paced action that the Susky offers, we've dubbed this event the "Susky 5 Slama-Jama" in a play on words with the popular 1980s college basketball team that was nicknamed the Phi Slama Jama. The team was led by future NBA players and hall of famers, Clyde "the glide" Drexler and Hakeem Olajuwon, as they took the country by storm. They were known for their slam dunking and explosive, fast-breaking style of play. It really is a style of play comparable to the Susquehanna River's faced-paced action and powerful smallmouth. The Phi Slama Jama may have started their best 5 players on the hardwoods, similarly you'll need to display your best 5 smallmouth to "cut down the nets" and take this title.

Hosted by Columbia Mountour Visitors Bureau with tournament headquarters and camping all in one location - the Bloomsburg Faifrgrounds - this may be one of the biggest east coast kayak fishing parties the sport has ever seen. Numerous other outdoor opportunities for the entire family are also close by so if you're bringing the family to this Slama-Jama, you might want to check out all the area offers!

Eligible Core Bodies of Water **

CORE LAKES
Lake Chillisquauqe {} Lake Jean {} Shickshinny Lake

 CORE RIVERS
North Branch Susquehanna River {} West Branch Susquehanna River {} Susquehanna River (main stem)
** including all free flowing canals, creeks & rivers feeding in. When scouting (online or in person) track all tributaries upstream from one of the core bodies of water listed above until you hit any of the following man-made obstacles - solid or earthen dam, or road, culvert or pipe etc that you cannot kayak under/over. Any of those points are hard KAS boundaries. However, a "spillway" or "lowhead" type dam is legal in KAS and anglers can fish & access above & below them. They are just "running the river" and are different from "solid or earthen" dams that have water flowing under the dam via a pipe or drain (think neighborhood or farm ponds, private lakes etc) or through larger outflows or turbines on larger public lake dams. If the water above a non-spillway type dam is legal in KAS it will be marked and listed as one of your "core" bodies of water on this page/map. If not, then it is not legal for the event.
Anglers must access "legally" & "publicly." If you find any water, or access, you feel may not be covered by the interactive map, preview video, or rules standards please contact the KAS Tournament Director prior to the event for clarification or risk being DQ'd if it is later deemed to be not eligible. For help determining "public" access reference the Farwide Flowchart
