Achigan's "Mississippi BronzeQuest"

July 11-12 | St. Cloud, MN
Awards @ Pioneer Place on 5th

GoPro_cyan_Logo_edited.png
Of the few who have fished each of the trophy smallmouth waters in the country, they all come back with one conclusion - the upper Mississippi River is 1A on their quest for mega smallies that each over 23 inches here. It's a rare combination of river beauty filled with bronze power that we're rightflully dubbing "Mississippi BronzeQuest!" It may not be a question of "if" angler's personal bests will be broken, but rather by how many inches. It also may not be "if" 100 inches will be reached by our winner, but "how many" Crosskix Century Belts will be handed out!

Hosted by Visit Greater St. Cloud which boasts so many outdoor opportunities and things to do for the entire family. Obviously our anglers will see that the upper Mississippi is the star of their show, but the superb cuisine, breweries, shopping, lodging, modern amenities and other attractions are just a stones throw away from the giant river smallmouth. It's what makes this destination unlike any other. So, if you're bringing the family to this BronzeQuest, you might want to check out all the area offers!

The KAS Closing Ceremony festival complete with food, music, games, kids zone w bounce house, kayak demos, Toyota truck demos, vendor booths etc will be held at Lake George Park in downtown St. Cloud. When the festival fun ends anglers, family& friends will walk a few blocks away to the Pioneer Place on Fifth Theater for the KAS Awards.

Eligible Core Bodies of Water **

         CORE LAKES

Orono Lake {} Little Rock Lake

There may be some smaller "lakes" connected by free flowing tributaries within the Mississippi boundary. We are not listing all of them, just these 2 bigger lakes, but they are legal per the KAS rules if they are open & eventually connected to our Mississipi boundary.

          CORE RIVERS

 Mississippi {} Sauk {} Crow {} Elk {} St. Francis {} Platte â€‹

** including all free flowing canals, creeks & rivers feeding in. When scouting (online or in person) track all tributaries upstream from one of the core bodies of water listed above until you hit any of the following man-made obstacles - solid or earthen dam, or road, culvert or pipe etc that you cannot kayak under/over. Any of those points are hard KAS boundaries. However, a "spillway" or "lowhead" type dam is legal  in KAS and anglers can fish & access above & below them. They are just "running the river" and are different from "solid or earthen" dams that have water flowing under the dam via a pipe or drain (think neighborhood or farm ponds, private lakes etc) or through larger outflows or turbines on larger public lake dams. If the water above a non-spillway type dam is legal in KAS it will be marked and listed as one of your "core" bodies of water on this page/map. If not, then it is not legal for the event.

Anglers must access "legally" & "publicly." If you find any water, or access, you feel may not be covered by the interactive map, preview video, or rules standards please contact the KAS Tournament Director prior to the event for clarification or risk being DQ'd if it is later deemed to be not eligible. For help determining "public" access reference the Farwide Flowchart
